The Mascot Odour Control Plant is a post-processing, environmental control facility that filters toxic air into the local atmosphere. It is a critical piece of infrastructure operated by Sydney Water.

The Challenges

Sydney Water has rigorous technical specifications that had to be adhered to during the whole phase from drafting to installation and handover. This includes a detailed QA procedure, as well as Non-Destructive testing using Visual, MPI and Radiographic methods.

Additionally, this site sits atop the Mascot Heritage SWOOS which was not structurally rated to support any significant loading. This combined with the airport height restriction meant Frontline had to be delicate when craning in the structural steel.
